Kinpack Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Long Software LLC for Kinpack — the app, this website, and everything in them. Please read them. They cover what you may do with Kinpack, what we owe you, what we do not promise, and the extra terms Apple and Google require.
1. Who we are, and what this covers
Kinpack (“Kinpack”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Long Software LLC, a limited liability company formed in Virginia, of 8401 Mayland Dr #6010, Richmond, VA 23294, USA. You can reach us at support@kinpack.app.
These terms apply to the Kinpack apps for iOS, Android, macOS and the web,
and to kinpack.app. How we handle your information is described
separately in the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is
a notice to you, not part of this agreement.
2. Accepting these terms
You accept these terms by creating a Kinpack account or by using Kinpack. The sign-up screen says so at the point of sign-up: “By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.” If you do not agree, do not create an account and do not use Kinpack. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data; it is a notice to you rather than a contract, and the rights it gives you do not depend on these terms.
3. Who may use Kinpack
You must be 18 or older, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, to create or use a Kinpack account. By creating an account you confirm that you are. Kinpack is not directed to children and is not intended to be used by a child as an account holder. If we learn that an account is held by someone under 18, we may close it.
You may add family members — including children — as travelers, so the app can build them a packing list. A traveler is a name in your household, not a user: they have no account, no sign-in and no access. When you enter information about another person, including a child, you confirm you are entitled to do so — for a child, because you are their parent or guardian or have that person's permission — and you are responsible for that information. Do not let a child use your account. See the Privacy Policy's Children's information section, which describes exactly what is held about a child: a name and a person type and nothing else about the child themselves, plus the packing list you build for them and the trip it sits on.
You must not use Kinpack if we have previously terminated your account, or if a law that applies to you prohibits it.
4. Your account
- Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give us accurate account information and keep it current.
- Tell us at support@kinpack.app if you think someone else has got into your account.
- You can delete your account at any time (unless you are paying for an active Kinpack Plus subscription — see Kinpack Plus and payments) in Settings → Delete your account, or by following the instructions here if you cannot sign in. Deletion is scheduled, not immediate — see Ending this agreement.
5. Your content
“Your content” means everything you put into Kinpack: trips, destinations, dates, packing lists, traveler names, library items, kits and templates, notes, and the photos you attach to items.
Your content stays yours. We claim no ownership of it. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store, copy, transmit and display your content so the app works, so it syncs to your own devices, and so the people you deliberately share it with can see it. That permission is worldwide and royalty-free because servers and households are, but it is limited to operating and supporting Kinpack, it is not a licence to publish or sell your content, and it ends when the content is deleted — subject to the ordinary lag of backups and to the shared-content caveat in Households and sharing.
We do not use your trips, lists or photos to train machine-learning models, and we do not show your content to anyone you have not shared it with. There is no public feed in Kinpack; nothing you create is published.
You are responsible for your content, and you confirm you have the rights to it. Photos are limited by the service to image files under 5 MB, and you must not upload anything unlawful, anything that infringes someone else's rights, or an image of a person who has not agreed to it.
Travel Documents are different. Documents you store in the Travel Documents feature — and their attachments — never reach us. They are encrypted and stored only on your device. We cannot read them, back them up, or recover them for you, and deleting the app deletes them.
6. Households and sharing
Kinpack is built for families, which means sharing is deliberate and it is not reversible for other people's copies. Before you invite anyone, know what you are agreeing to:
- Household members see the household. When someone joins your household they can see the household's travelers — including the children you have added — its trips, packing lists, and the item photos attached to them, according to their role (owner, adult, member or viewer).
- Trips can be shared outside a household by inviting someone to the trip. An invitation records the email address you send it to.
- Library items can be sent to another person, either directly to an email address or by a share link that stays valid for 14 days. Anyone who has that link can take a copy while it is live. Turning a link off stops new copies; it does not take back copies already taken.
- A copy that has left is theirs. Once another person has taken a copy of a library item, or is on a shared trip, that content stays with them. Removing yourself, or deleting your account, does not delete their copy.
- Household owners can remove members and change roles. Losing access to a household does not delete anything you personally own.
Only invite people you trust with the information in your household, and do not put another adult's personal information into Kinpack without their agreement.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Break the law with Kinpack, or use it to harass, endanger or deceive anyone.
- Try to get at other people's data, probe or attack the service, or work around the security rules that decide who can read what.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or copy Kinpack, except to the extent the law says you may despite this sentence.
- Scrape it, load it automatically at scale, resell it, or run it as a service for other people.
- Upload malware, or content that infringes someone's rights.
- Use another person's account, or share yours with someone who should not have your household's data.
8. Kinpack Plus and payments
Kinpack has a free tier. Kinpack Plus is an auto-renewing subscription you can buy in one of two ways, and who sells it to you depends on where you buy it:
- In the iPhone, iPad or Android app — sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The store is the seller and bills you; section 8.1 applies.
- On the web, at kinpack.app — sold by us, Long Software LLC, with payments processed by Stripe; section 8.2 applies.
The following applies to both.
- What it costs and how long a period lasts: Kinpack Plus is offered as a monthly or an annual subscription. The price, currency and billing period that apply to you are shown on the purchase screen — the store's in the app, ours and Stripe's checkout page on the web — before you buy. Those are the authoritative figures.
- Free trial: new subscribers may get a one-week free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription you chose starts and you are charged for it. In the app, the store decides who is eligible (one trial per store account, as the store allows). On the web, a trial is offered only to a Kinpack account that has never had a Kinpack Plus subscription anywhere — in the App Store, Google Play or on the web. Any unused part of a trial ends when a paid period starts.
- It renews automatically for the same period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
- A subscription is per household: while it is active, everyone in the household of the person who bought it gets the Plus features, and the person who bought it is the person who is billed. If they leave the household, the household returns to the free tier straight away; if they cancel, it returns to the free tier when the period they have paid for ends. If you hold more than one subscription (for example one in the App Store and one on the web), you keep Plus while any of them is active — cancel the one you no longer want where you bought it.
- Where you manage it follows where you bought it. A store subscription is managed in that store; a web subscription is managed on the web. The app tells you which one you have.
- What Plus includes is listed on the purchase screen before you buy. If we materially reduce what Plus includes, we will tell you before your next renewal so you can cancel.
- If a subscription ends, your data is not deleted — features that need Plus simply stop being available.
8.1 Bought in the app (App Store or Google Play)
- Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase, and again at the start of each renewal period.
- Turning off renewal: you are charged for the next period unless you turn auto-renewal off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (and, for a trial, at least 24 hours before it ends).
- You cancel in your store account, not in Kinpack. We cannot cancel a store subscription for you — the store owns the billing relationship. On iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Uninstalling Kinpack does not cancel a subscription. Only turning off auto-renewal in your store account does.
- Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy, not by us. Ask Apple or Google. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
- If you live in the EU or the UK, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase of digital services within 14 days. Because the store is the seller, that right is exercised with, and handled by, Apple or Google under their terms.
- Price changes are notified by the store, and where the store requires it, take effect only if you agree.
- Deleting your Kinpack account does not cancel a store subscription. If a store subscription you bought is still active, the app tells you so before you delete and links you to your store account's subscription settings, where only you can cancel it; the store keeps billing you until you do. An active subscription never stops you deleting your account: deletion follows the usual 30-day schedule in section 13.
- Where these terms and the store's own terms disagree about a store purchase, the store's terms govern that purchase.
8.2 Bought on the web (Stripe)
- Who sells it. On the web the seller is Long Software LLC. Stripe, Inc. processes the payment on our behalf on its own secure checkout page; we never see or store your full card number.
- Your agreement. By ticking the box on the Stripe checkout page and confirming, you agree to these terms and authorise us to charge your payment method the price shown, plus any applicable sales tax, at the start of the subscription (or when the free trial ends) and again at the start of every renewal period until you cancel.
- Sales tax is calculated from your billing address and added to the price where the law requires it. It appears on the checkout page before you pay and on every receipt.
- Receipts and reminders. Stripe emails a receipt for every charge to the email address you use at checkout, with a link to manage the subscription. We also send any renewal or trial reminders the law requires before you are charged.
- Cancel any time, online. Sign in to Kinpack in a web browser and open Settings → Kinpack Plus → Manage subscription, or use the link in any receipt email. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period: nothing more is charged and you keep Plus until then. Cancel during a free trial and you pay nothing. Cancelling is never harder than signing up was, and you do not have to contact us to do it.
- Refunds. Charges are for the whole period and, once a period has started, are not refunded for the unused part, except where the law requires it or where we made a mistake (for example a duplicate or mistaken charge) — email us at the address in section 22 and we will put it right. A refund ends the subscription. If you live in the EU or the UK and have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw, you can exercise it by contacting us; because Plus starts as soon as you subscribe, you may be charged for the days you used it.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it for up to two weeks and you keep Plus meanwhile; if it still fails, the subscription ends.
- Price changes. We will tell you by email before a renewal at a new price, in the time the law requires. If you do not want the new price, cancel before that renewal.
- Deleting your Kinpack account ends a web subscription. When you ask us to delete your account we turn off auto-renewal for any web subscription you have, so you are not charged again; your account, and with it Plus, is then deleted on the usual 30-day schedule in section 13. If a web subscription is somehow still active when the account is finally erased, we cancel it then. There is no refund for the unused part of the current period, except where the law requires one. We keep the payment records the law requires us to keep (see the Privacy Policy).
- The web and the apps are separate purchases. A web subscription cannot be managed or restored in the App Store or Google Play, and the apps do not sell or link to the web subscription.
9. Kinpack gives you suggestions, not advice
This is the most important section in this document. Please read it.
Kinpack helps you pack. It is not a source of travel, immigration, border, visa, customs, legal, medical, safety or insurance advice, and nothing it shows you should be relied on as any of those.
Reminders are a convenience, not a check. Where Kinpack shows you a reminder about a date — including the expiry date on something you saved in Travel Documents — it is a generic prompt off a date you typed. It is not a check of anything, it is not specific to your destination, your nationality, your route or your travel dates, and the absence of a reminder means nothing at all. Kinpack never tells you whether you are allowed to travel, and nothing it shows you is a statement about your eligibility to board a flight or enter a country. Entry requirements change constantly. Always confirm entry, visa, identity-document and validity requirements with the relevant government or your carrier before you travel. Kinpack is not responsible if you are refused boarding or entry.
Travel Documents is for bookings, not for your ID. The feature is scoped to booking confirmations, boarding passes and itineraries. Kinpack is not a document wallet and is not a place to keep your passport, driving licence or any other identity document — keep those with you. Kinpack does not read, verify, check or validate anything you put into a document; it only stores it, encrypted, on your own device.
Packing suggestions are generated by a simple rule set that runs on your device from the trip details you enter. They are a starting point, not a checklist of what you need. Kinpack does not know what medication you take, what your airline allows, what is prohibited in your cabin bag or at your destination, or what you personally cannot travel without. Check anything that matters.
Weather is a third-party forecast. Forecasts and place lookups come from Open-Meteo. Forecasts are predictions, they are frequently wrong, and neither we nor Open-Meteo guarantee them. Do not use Kinpack to make a safety decision about weather.
Kinpack is not a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot lose — and remember that Travel Documents exist only on your device and cannot be recovered by us at all.
10. Third-party services
Kinpack depends on services we do not control, and your use of them is subject to their terms as well as ours:
- Apple's App Store and Google Play — distribution, purchases, refunds and subscription management.
- Google Firebase — the accounts, database, file storage and server functions Kinpack runs on.
- Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In, if you choose them, for authentication.
- Open-Meteo — place lookup and weather forecasts. Kinpack sends it the destination you typed, or its coordinates, and nothing that identifies you. See the Privacy Policy.
- Datadog — product analytics and crash diagnostics, stored in the United States. Kinpack sends it counts and event names from a fixed list, and error reports. It is sent nothing about your trips, your travellers or your lists. See the Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — subscription validation, only if you buy Kinpack Plus. It receives your account identifier and the store's records of your subscription so we can confirm the purchase and follow renewals, cancellations and refunds. It is sent nothing about your trips, your travellers or your lists, and never your payment details. See the Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — payment processing, sales tax and the subscription-management portal, only if you buy Kinpack Plus on the web. Stripe collects your payment details, billing address and email on its own checkout page under its own privacy policy; we receive the result, not your card number. See the Privacy Policy.
We are not responsible for third-party services, and this agreement does not change any agreement you have with them.
11. Our intellectual property
Kinpack itself — the apps, the software, the name, the logo, the design and the built-in suggestion content — belongs to Long Software LLC and its licensors. Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Kinpack on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You get no other rights. You may not use our name or logo without our permission.
If you send us feedback or a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything for it. Please do not send us anything confidential.
12. Changes to Kinpack
Kinpack changes. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop offering the service or a part of it. If we discontinue Kinpack entirely, we will give reasonable notice in the app or by email where we can, and time to get your data out. If we stop offering Kinpack Plus, we will stop it renewing and tell you how to ask the store for any refund it allows for the unused part of a period. Some features are unavailable on some platforms — Travel Documents, for example, do not exist in the web version because they are device-only by design.
13. Ending this agreement
You can stop using Kinpack at any time, and can delete your account in Settings → Delete your account.
Deletion is scheduled, not immediate.
Deleting your account starts a 30-day grace window. Sign in again within those 30 days and everything comes back. After 30 days it is erased irreversibly and we cannot recover it. Trips and households that other people are still on survive, as described in Households and sharing and in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms — in particular the acceptable-use section — if we are required to by law, or if keeping it running would create a risk to other users or to us. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we terminate your account for something you did not do, tell us and we will look again. We cannot cancel a store subscription for you: if we close your account, we will tell you so you can turn off auto-renewal, and if we close it other than because you breached these terms, we will tell you how to ask the store for any refund it allows.
Sections that by their nature should survive — your content licence to the extent needed for shared copies, the disclaimers, the limits on liability, indemnity, and governing law — survive the end of this agreement.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kinpack is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Kinpack will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that its suggestions or forecasts will be accurate, or that defects will be corrected.
Nothing here excludes or limits anything that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If you are a consumer you have legal rights that these terms do not affect, and some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Long Software LLC nor anyone working with us will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost travel, missed flights, denied boarding or entry, or the cost of substitute services, arising out of or relating to your use of Kinpack — even if we were told such damages were possible.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to Kinpack is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Kinpack in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, and nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Long Software LLC against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your breach of these terms, or your unlawful use of Kinpack. This does not apply to anything caused by us, and if you are a consumer it applies only to the extent your local law allows.
17. Governing law and where disputes are heard
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be heard in the courts of Loudoun County, Virginia (or the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, where it has jurisdiction).
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may be entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing in this section limits a consumer's rights under the law of their own country.
Please email us first at support@kinpack.app, describing the problem and what you would like us to do. Most things are faster to fix than to litigate, and we will try in good faith to resolve it with you within 30 days. Nothing in this section stops either of us from using a small-claims court where it has jurisdiction, or from asking a court for urgent relief.
18. General
- These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Kinpack. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and is not part of this agreement.
- If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- Not enforcing something once does not waive it.
- You may not transfer this agreement; we may transfer it to a successor of the business, on notice.
- Except as stated in the Apple section below, nobody other than you and us has rights under this agreement.
- We may send you notices about Kinpack by email to the address on your account or in the app, and those count as written notice.
- We are not responsible for a failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as an outage at a provider we rely on.
- You must comply with the export-control and sanctions laws that apply to your use of Kinpack.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do we will change the “Last updated” date at the top and post the new version here. For a change that materially affects your rights we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect — at least 30 days before, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons — and continuing to use Kinpack afterwards means you accept it. If you do not accept a change, stop using Kinpack and delete your account. A change to these terms never changes the price of a subscription you have already bought; price changes go through the store.
20. Apple App Store — additional terms
This section applies if you obtained Kinpack from Apple's App Store. It is the End User Licence Agreement Apple requires, and where it conflicts with anything above, this section governs the App Store version of the app. Kinpack does not adopt Apple's standard EULA by reference; these are its custom terms, and they carry Apple's required terms in full.
20.1 Acknowledgement
This agreement is concluded between you and Long Software LLC only, and not with Apple. Long Software LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for Kinpack and its content. This agreement does not provide for usage rules for Kinpack that conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and Long Software LLC acknowledges that it has had the opportunity to review those terms.
20.2 Scope of the licence
The licence granted to you for Kinpack is a non-transferable licence to use Kinpack on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, and only as permitted by the Usage Rules set out in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions — except that Kinpack may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing, where Apple makes that available.
20.3 Maintenance and support
Long Software LLC is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services for Kinpack, as specified in this agreement or as required by applicable law. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to Kinpack. Support requests go to support@kinpack.app.
20.4 Warranty
Long Software LLC is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. In the event of any failure of Kinpack to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for Kinpack to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Kinpack, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be Long Software LLC's sole responsibility.
20.5 Product claims
Long Software LLC, and not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to Kinpack or your possession and/or use of Kinpack, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that Kinpack fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation. This agreement does not limit Long Software LLC's liability to you beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
20.6 Intellectual property rights
In the event of any third-party claim that Kinpack or your possession and use of Kinpack infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Long Software LLC, and not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
20.7 Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
20.8 Developer name and address
Questions, complaints or claims about Kinpack should be directed to:
Long Software LLC, 8401 Mayland Dr #6010, Richmond, VA 23294, USA ·
support@kinpack.app
20.9 Third-party terms of agreement
You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using Kinpack — for example, your wireless data service agreement, and the terms of the third-party services listed above.
20.10 Third-party beneficiary
You and Long Software LLC acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement, and that upon your acceptance of the terms and conditions of this agreement, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary of it.
20.11 Subscriptions bought through Apple
Any subscription is sold and billed by Apple, auto-renews through your Apple Account, is cancelled in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, and is refunded (if at all) by Apple under Apple's policy. See Kinpack Plus and payments.

21. Google Play — additional terms
This section applies if you obtained Kinpack from Google Play.
- This agreement is between you and Long Software LLC only, and not with Google. Google is not a party to it and is not responsible for Kinpack or its content.
- Your use of Google Play is also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service. Where those terms and this agreement conflict about a purchase made through Google Play, the Google Play terms govern that purchase.
- Long Software LLC is solely responsible for Kinpack, for support, and for any warranty. Google has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Kinpack.
- Purchases, subscriptions, auto-renewal and refunds are handled by Google under Google's policies. Manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Nothing in this agreement limits any right you have under the Google Play terms or under the consumer law of the country you live in.
